Remove Claude’s formatting from Google Docs
Google Docs preserves pasted HTML, so copying straight from Claude carries its class names — the ones containing “claude” — into a Google Doc. They are invisible while you read, but present in the source and readable by anyone who looks. Paste with Ctrl+Shift+V (Cmd+Shift+V on macOS) to paste without formatting.

- A normal paste carries the source formatting and its underlying markup; paste-without-formatting drops both.
- Docs also normalises straight quotes into curly ones as you type, so smart punctuation can appear even in text you wrote yourself.
- If the document is already pasted, select all and use Format → Clear formatting, then fix the headings.
The fastest fix

That handles the markup. It does not handle zero-width characters, non-breaking and exotic spaces, smart quotes or em dashes — those are text rather than formatting, so they survive the paste route above and every other one.
How to check it worked
File → Download → Web Page (.html), then open the downloaded file in a text editor. That is the document's real markup, not the rendered view.
