Terms of Service
Last updated 11 August 2026
1. What this service is
Claude Watermark is a text-processing tool. It inspects text you provide for machine-detectable artifacts — provider-specific HTML attributes, zero-width and non-standard Unicode characters, and typographic markers — reports what it finds, and can remove them. A paid tier additionally rewrites text using a third-party language model to improve phrasing while preserving meaning.
We are an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic PBC and is used here descriptively.
2. What we do not promise
We make no guarantee that processed text will achieve any particular result with any third-party detection system, now or in the future. Those systems change without notice and are outside our control. Nothing here is a representation that output will be classified in any specific way by any detector, institution, or platform.
We do not claim to detect or remove statistical watermarks that no published detection method exists for. Where our documentation says something is not currently possible, that is a statement of fact rather than a limitation of our implementation.
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the service to:
- Violate the academic-integrity policies of any school, university, or examining body, or misrepresent authorship where you are required to disclose it
- Process text you do not have the right to process
- Create material that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringing
- Attempt to circumvent credit limits, or automate account creation
- Resell or redistribute the service without written permission
You are responsible for how you use the output, and for complying with the rules of any institution or platform you submit it to.
4. Accounts
Checking and cleaning require no account. The rewrite engine does. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. One person, one account — creating multiple accounts to obtain repeated free credits is a breach of these terms and we may remove those credits or close the accounts.
5. Credits, billing and cancellation
Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record and is the seller for your transaction. Their terms apply to the payment itself, and your receipt and statement entry will reference them.
- One credit covers 500 words of rewriting.
- Credits do not expire, in either purchase mode.
- Monthly plans grant credits each billing period and can be cancelled at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; credits already granted remain yours.
- One-time credit packs do not recur and there is nothing to cancel.
- If a rewrite fails, the credits for it are returned automatically. You do not need to contact us.
- Unused credits are refundable within 30 days of purchase. See Refunds & cancellation.
- Requests are limited to 20,000 words each, and we may apply reasonable rate limits to protect the service.
6. Your content
You keep all rights to text you submit. We claim no ownership of your input or of the output. We do not use your text to train models. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what is and is not processed on a server.
7. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service. We rely on third-party infrastructure and model providers, and outages on their side will affect us. Where we materially change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page.
8. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including academic, disciplinary, professional, or reputational consequences arising from how you chose to use the output.
9. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to the contact address listed on our payment provider’s receipt, or through the support channel linked from your dashboard.
